About The Role

Reporting to the Executive Chef and working closely with the Senior Management Team, this role is entrusted with ensuring the smooth and effective operation of Mothervine’s culinary operation.  As Head Chef you will be responsible for the food & dining experience at one of our three unique locations while managing the operation of the kitchen.  You will be responsible and accountable for the achievement of the kitchen’s success and maximising business growth and sustainability opportunities, by both fulfilling and building upon Mother Vine’s guest’sguests’ food experiences.  You are creative, organised, passionate, commercial and a lover of quality food!

Role Responsibilities:

  • Working with the Executive Chef you will develop seasonal menus that showcase the best of South Australian produce while catering to current culinary trends.

  • Manage inventory, control food costs, and optimise kitchen operations for efficiency.

  • Create and manage kitchen staff and rosters while fostering a culture of excellence and teamwork.

  • Manage food safety and ensure adherence to compliance and safety standards.

  • Foster a collaborative and positive work environment, nurturing the talents of our brilliant kitchen staff.

  • Flexibility to meet the demands of our busy venue operations.

Some of the things you will bring to the table:

  • Proven strong experience as a Head Chef in a reputable restaurant or similar establishment.

  • Expertise in modern cooking techniques, flavour profiles, and menu development.

  • Design and Coordinate menus, inventory, purchasing, staffing, and food preparation, with a focus on sustainability and locally sourced produce.

  • Develop and manage the culinary budget, hitting financial goals while keeping a positive cost management index.

  • Ensure top-notch sanitation and food standards, offering excellent customer service, and being quick to respond to team member and guest concerns.

  • Strong visionary Leader with an ability to inspire, mentor and build effective teams and a positive culture

  • Excellent organisational, verbal and written communication skills

  • A passion for innovation and a keen eye for detail.
